There are many technical solutions to detecting X-rays ranging from simple gas-filled detectors to the most up-to-date energy dispersive X-ray cameras. As the variety of detectors is too broad to cover here, we restrict ourselves to the most important and currently used types regarding technical aspects, design and principles of operation.
